About Us

The "South West Hertfordshire RAYNET" group is part of RAYNET a national voluntary communications service made up of licensed radio amateurs who are prepared to give of their time, expertise and the use of their equipment as a voluntary public service - primarily in the event of emergencies - to agreed users which include County or District Emergency Planning Officers, Police, Fire, Ambulance, Red Cross, St. John Ambulance etc. We can provide a complete message handling service using trained operators and do this either by voice or data.

RAYNET members can be called out in the event of a serious incident or natural disaster but our normal activity is to help with local events as a means of self-training.

RAYNET groups are organized broadly on the lines of district/county areas but this is not a hard and fast rule. This group covers South West Hertfordshire that includes the Districts of Watford, Dacorum, Hertsmere and Three Rivers.

We have a busy programme of events throughout the year providing safety cover on behalf of Red Cross or St. John at many of the local marathons, Triathlons, Cycle Races and other outdoor events. Additionally we have strong working relationships with District and County Council Emergency planning teams.

If you want to find out more about the objectives of RAYNET then please go the main NATIONAL RAYNET site at www.raynet-uk.net.

If you are looking for support for an event in our area then contact the Group Controller at info@swherts-raynet-uk.net
